Florida College Football Coaches

The "U" passes on Tommy Tuberville to pick up a Temple Coach? Yes, Al Golden years have arrived for UM fans, good luck with that. Tommy a BIG NAME COACH FROM A GREAT BIG NAMED PROGRAM would have been a better choice, but that is just my opinion.

The Gator nation and athletic director were quick to act and hired Texas coach in waiting Will Muschamp, a MUCH better decision then UM's choice.

With that said, I am still a NOLE fan at heart and can't wait to see how the Noles do this year recruiting some Florida high school studs, good luck UM and Gator fans, Jimbo is a hell of a recruiter.

I'm not happy with Miami's pick.  That being said, I'll give the guy some time to prove himself.  I would rather have seen Tuberville or Leach.  The Gators picking up Muschamp was a good choice.

I was kind of hoping Chris Peterson get look at for the Florida job. Be interesting to see him at Florida. Wonder what kind of run he could make with the talents you can find in state of Florida.

Al Golden is a good coach, what he did at Temple in such a short time frame is pretty amazing. He beat UCONN with Temple who is going to BCS bowl...

Agreed. You can't argue with his recent coaching resume. As long as he's willing and able to recruit in the State of Miami, he should do fine.  Hopefully he'll change Randy Shannons idea of not allowing the previous players around the team.  Miami doesn't have many traditions, that has always been one of them.  For some reason Shannon made it a big no no.  We'll see what happens.

The Miami program never really flourished under Shannon. Hopefully the new coach will have better results. I do not know much about Golden, but hopefully he is more animated and involved on the sideline and better at making adjustments on the fly. Shannon usually just stood there like a cardboard cut out with his arms crossed watching the wheels fall off.

Shannon seemed to me as too much the players coach. I think the program needs are more authoritative type of guy.

Randy Shannon did everything right, except win enough games. His team got good grades, went to class, stayed out of trouble, and hopefully, grew as young men.

I don't agree with the authoritative figure, he laid down the law, and separated his teams from SOME of the previous "thugs" that he rightfully did not want around his program.

I think he was a much better person than a coach, unfortunately, and that gets you fired.

I love how everybody still regards Miami's players (even the old ones) as thugs.  Almost every college team that is on top has had people arrested for various things.  I never heard anybody calling the Gators a bunch of thugs, even though they had more arrests and whatnot while Urban Meyer was there.

Poor Dumbo Fisher.

He thought he would rack up the Florida talent without the Dinosaurs getting a coach.

Too bad. The Dinosaurs, new to winning football championships, have a great head coach and now Dumbo will have a lot more work to do.

As for the Thugs, who cares about their coach. It is going to take years to rebuild that program.

Satan's four assistants at LSU are now all head coaches.  :D

Jimbo still has an advantage in recruiting FSU played better this year than UF and UM, thus attracting recruits and should have an advantage over new "unproven" head coaches, albeit he has only held the position a year.

Not really a Miami fan, but if you think the program is in shambles and it will take years, don't forget that UM was ranked this year and if it wasn't for Shannon I believe they could have made a run at the ACC championship or at least been a top 20 program.  Plus he had plenty of top 10 rival recruiting classes while he was there.

With the talent pool in S. FLA its going to be tough to be bad if you have decent head coaching.  I say in about 2 years, Florida schools will be on the top 10 of BCS, between UM, UF, and FSU, sorry GA, AL, LA, TN, and SC, you guys don't have the in state talent, shoot even UCF a second rung school is ranked!!   :P  Don't you miss FSU, UM and UF being national championship contenders on a regular basis?

I agree that he stressed graduation, and he was a good mentor to some of the football players. But, he did not do everything right, especially when it pertains to coaching. The team is stocked with talent, and he was unable to win the games against the better teams. He was terrible at making halftime adjustments. I think he was in over his head as a college head coach. It was the correct move by the university to make a change. The last few years have been real disappointing. Shannon is a nice man, and his talents as a defensive coordinator are his strength.

Of course they don't.  Although once it does happen, people will get to yell and cry about Miami being full of thugs again.

Just remember, Howard Schnellenberger changed college football when he came to Miami and started recruiting like he did.  Everybody hates the team that did something first.

136 consecutive regular season weeks a Hurricane has scored a touchdown in the NFL.
