Fishing Zoom Flukes

Featured Replies

Hey there...I'm  really looking to start fishing flukes and I had quite a few questions. First off, I've got the Tiny Flukes in Baby Bass and the Super Flukes in a clear sparkle color.

I plan to fish the Tiny Flukes on a spinning rod...I have ML or MH...Both 6'8". My spinning reels have 6 lb. floro, #6 Yozuri Ultrashot and 8 lb. P-Line CXX.

I plan to fish the Supers on a baitcasting rig...7' M or 6'8 MH with 10 lb. floro or 14 lb. CXX.

- What rigs would you suggest I use for each?

- What hook sizes to use? I put the Tiny Fluke on a small worm hook (like 1/0) and when I jerked it, it would spin a little. Does this mean incorrect rigging?

- Can I fish these higher in the water column faster and also a bit deeper letting them sink with slow jerks? How would I rig if I wanted to fish these in 15+ depths? My guess = split-shot

- Is it basically a jerk-jerk-pause type retrieve but a bit more erratic and change it up?

Sorry for all the questions but I need to add these to my arsenal.

Try the Texposer hooks in the appropriate sizes to match the Flukes. The straight part of the hook bend makes rigging the bait straight easier.

never used the tiny ones, but for the super flukes you can do alot of differnt riggings to get it to do certain things.if i want it to stay on top i use a 4/0 gammy ewg and only go into the bait about 1/8''.if i want it to dive under i use a 5/0 superline ewg and take it down to the slit before bringing hook out.if i want to swim it i use same hook and a swivel w/ 18'' leader and a nail(size depends on how deep i want it to go)in the body.if i want it to go any deeper(15') i would put it on a c-rig

Have always used the Super Flukes. Tried several colors and settled on Watermelon Seed or Green Pumkin with 4/0 EWG Gammi Hooks (weightless). Really just use this bait in top 2ft of water. Great bait anytime but when vegetation grows clear to top of water it comes right thru it. I use a spinning set-up 6' MH rod with 6lb YZ ultrasoft ;)...
