January Iowa  Fishing Trip

Featured Replies

Well I got out last weekend with Darrin(HawgHunter) and his buddy Brian to do some ice fishing on a pond in southern Iowa. Had a pretty good bite all day and was a nice break from all the hunting I had been doing. Always feels good to get a fish tugging on the end of a 24 inch rod, even if it is a panfish. Heres a few pics caught alot of nice gills and kept 10 nice crappie.

This looks like our only fishing option for a while but its better than sitting at home.

That looks like a pretty good lunch or dinner to me. Mmmmmmm. Feesh.

Congratulations!  I usually don't eat 'gills, but I have tried them before.  Delicious!

They were all 10-12.5 inches and very fat.  I normally dont clean them unless they are 12 inches but I havent seen them that fat before.  They were very easy to clean and there is more than enough of them.
