I was on the Rappahannock River in Fredericksburg this past weekend and I saw a bunch of guys fishing. I tried a few baits, but nothing was biting. The other fishermen were catching loads of fish but I couldn't tell what they were. Later someone told me they were herring. There were tons of guys out there with light spinning tackle and lots of fly fishermen. So I guess I didn't catch anything because my baits were for bass and thus way too big. Anyway, to the question: What do you use to catch herring? Some of the other fishermen were catching some pretty nice sized ones. Having never fished for them, I have no idea what to use.
