Drop Shotting for Walleye?

Featured Replies

I am going fishing for walleye for the first time tomorrow with a few friends and I don't know the first thing about walleye fishing.  After talking with my buddies, they describe their fishing technique as drifting worm harnesses on the bottom.  That got me thinking about drop shotting.  I drop shot all the time and feel very comfortable with this technique and was wondering how this would work for walleye.  This leads me to my question, has anyone here successfully used drop shotting for walleye?  Thanks for the replies in advance.

if the fish are suspended 2 to 3 ft of the bottom i see no problem in it working make sure to use a jumbo  leech

As long as the fish are not in a negative mood, then heck yea.

When they don't feel like eating, and they're close to the bottom, you have to put the bait right in their faces; they usually will not come up even a few inches for food.

I've thought about drop-shotting for 'eyes this year, but every time I have went it's been very tough conditions.  Unfortunately I haven't had the right conditions for me to feel comfortable enough to drop-shot.  Pretty much all my fish this year have come on slip-bobbers and Lindy rigs.
