Spring bobbers for ice fishing

Featured Replies

Does anyone have experience with spring bobbers and can you recommend a brand?

I started using these last year. They are awesome for a light bite. You weight them so you can actually feel a negative bite. They are a bit expensive both will increase your hookup ratio tremendously.

Thanks UncleLeo.  I was looking at these this morning and was hoping someone would chime in and say whether they were worth the extra dough or not.  Are you jigging or live minnowing with this setup?

I mostly jig tipped with minnow heads or spikes. What is nice about these are the weight transfer system. Some of the other spring bobbers like what Frabil sells are not good for heavier weights and are only good for panfish. These are suitable for heavier weights so you can use for other species. What is nice about these is at times it is hard to detect the bite if the fish goes up with the bait. These will detect that type of strike.
