good line ?

Featured Replies

i plan on getting an ambassedor (5500), and i was wondering what kind of line and what size line would be good for muskie fishing, and i would also like to use it for bass fishing and other species as well?

I use 40lb Power Pro on mine. Heavy enough for musky/northern (with a good leader) and light enough for other uses.

I'd go along with the PP as well, however, with a 5500, you might cast a bit better with 30# test. I use to do a lot big pike fishing with such an outfit and never had a problem. The 30# test will give you more line-on-spool capacity for those long runs. Especially if they hit way out there!  :)
