rain and catfish

Featured Replies

i hear when it rains, the catfish go nuts.is this all rain conditions?(light, med.,heavy)and does the temp. matter?  thanks

I think this is true of all species. I'll shoreline fish in the rain, but don't like being on my boat in the rain.

The best day of catfishing I have ever had was during a steady downpour. That was many years ago, but I will never forget it. 3 of us caught at least 100 cats that day. All were nice fish too. A few hit 20 pounds, most were in the 5-8 pound range.

Even though we were soaked to the bone, it was GREAT fun! 8-)

Too bad it was on the Ohio River or we would have had a GREAT fish fry. I wont eat em out of the river.

I have caught my biggest Bass and catfish in moderate rain. I don't know exactly why but I always do better while it rains just before or just after .
