safe to eat?

Featured Replies

i caught some nice sized bluegill yesterday and they had little black specks on them, even in the meat? i havent seen this before so, is this safe to eat? i was plannin on eating them for dnner today

They are safe to eat. These spots normally don't show up until later in the summer when water really warms up. They are actually tiny parasites and cooking eliminates any problem. It's the thought that bothers most people. :-/

We see this quite often with the flowage fish over here on the EauPleine.  If you look closely sometimes you will find little white parasites/worms  in the meaty area behind the gill area also.  Safe to eat....I would take bear7625's word for it as long as the fish are properly cooked. 8-)
