I'm going to Kerr Lake this weekend to try my hand at Drop Shotting

I've only tryed it on lake Ontario last year. Any suggestions on baits to use ?  

hand poured worms... 4-5in

Skinny biats that shimmer a lot.

Finesse worms that have a nice tail to shake in the water.

Anything that you can get to move with a lot of wiggle.

I use a #1 gold hook.

Sometimes I use the Octopus Drop Shot hooks but I really like the good ole gold #1 hooks with the long shank.

They stand straight out from your line with a Palamor Knot and then running tag end through eye with no problems.

I am going to practice the Drop Shot technique later this afternoon and I bet you that I catch more than you do.  ;D   ;D   ;D

Have fun and remember, the Split Shot works good on Kerr, too.  Any finesse worm works great (watermealon or green pumpkin) with a round split shot sinker.

As does the Carolina rig in front of the floating docks.

This technique is mainly a boating teachnique right? I fish from shore and alwayz wanted to try drop shot but didnt think you could from shore . thatnx for the help .

I use 4in lizards, Zoom centipedes, and 4.5in finesse worms.  I do occasionaly use other things, but these 3 are at the top of my list, and will usually produce.

MbBass, you can d/s from shore - just shorten up your drop and hold your rod high - to set the hook use a sweeping motion to right or left - I have done this on heavily pressured ponds and causht fish when no body else was getting a bite.

Berkley has a series of "hand" pours out now. they've got some in 4"-4.5" or so, and 6". The red shad and wtrmln magic are good.

It makes the high-end hand pours accessible. I got mine at  cablea's, you might be able to find a retailer on-line.
