flying with fishing tackle?

Featured Replies

hey guys im flying home for leave back to michigan this sunday and was wondering if it is ok to fly with fishing tackle. i wanted to take home some plastics, topwater cranks and jigs and spinnerbaits lures of that sort in my plano tackle trays. i was going to put them in my checked baggage. i dont want to have to buy stuff when i go home so thats why i am doing this. has anyone ever did this? i didnt know if they would see all the hooks and that and try and take my stuff. sorry if this is a stupid question.

When I go on my business trips to the South, I always manage to buy a bunch of crankbaits, plastics and hooks.  I check it in my carryon baggage and have never had a problem.

I have brought hooks, plastics, and bottles of scent as a Carry-on and no one seems to mind, I have checked them too but sometimes I don't have enough room for it all, a guy has to have some clothes ;)

If you keep it in your checked luggage you are OK. If it's in your carry-on you could have a problem. At Detroit Metro they made me take anything with hooks out.

I tried flying with fishing tackle once.

My arms got tangled in the line.

Ptu it all in your checked bags. Other wise you stand a good chance of leaving it all at the security checkpoint.
