This guy is a touring Pro on the FLW Tour.  How is he able to fish the BASS Federation Nation for a chance to get into the Classic.  The guy is a freaking professioanl angler.  Whats the point of the Federation Nation if they allow professionals to qualify for the classic through club events.

Bryan Thrift is in the top 10 of the FLW Tour Lake Travis event this weekend as a Professional.  If I recall, he made the Classic next weekend by qualifying through the BASS Federation Nation.  It just doesn't seem right, that this guy can qualify for the Classic through the lowest ranks of the B.A.S.S.   He should only be able to qualify through the BASS Weekend Series.

I don't believe he is fishing in the classic. Also if you look at his profile for the flw he is fishing this year as a pro in the flw tour. However, he has only fished in the past as a co-angler in the flw tour. He is taking the next step and if he is fishing the classic through the federation he would of started the process over a year and a half ago. He would of fished to make his state team in the spring of 2005. Then fished the regional tournament in 2006 to qualify for the 2007 national tournament.  He finished 7th and was not the top  angler out of his region.  Brent long got the classic berth out of the southern region.  If he was the top guy out of his region he would fish the 2007 classic. The main point that I'm getting at is making the classic as a federation angler is a long process. During this time he took the next step to become a professional angler. If he would of made the classic it would have been a process that started in 2005 and you can't hold that against him for taking the next step. When the federation process started he was not fishing as a pro in the flw.

Alright..thats makes sense.  I never looked into the Federation, so I'm not sure about the process of getting there.  I was thinking it was all in one year.  Bryan Thrift must of lost the Fed lead for his region on the last day then, cuz he was leading for awhile.
