drop shot quick tip..

Featured Replies

if you run out of a certain size drop weight 1/8, 1/4. etc. or tend to lose lots of them, you can peg a bullet slip sinker in the normal manner with a tooth pick or rubberband, but at the tag end of course. also skin hooking the bait at the nose end instead of the exposed version cuts way down on snags .  low tech but effective.

i understand what your sayin but would that work for 'casting' the drop-shot? i don't do much vertical shotin here in florida. wouldn't the pegged weight slip off during the cast, or do you tie a knot below the peg to prevent this?

thanx for the reply . in response to the question, you can easily cast  using the pegged method. to put it to the test, slide a bullet sinker on the line ,insert a flat toothpick from the bottom of the sinker towards the top firmly. the toothpick acts as a wedge as the greater the downward force applied the tighter the wedge gets. also the knot isn't necessary as the diameter of the knot is generally smaller than the diameter of the hole at the bottom of the sinker. but the toothpick also takes up space in the hole, so it certainly couldn't hurt.
