fishing partner got to meet......

Featured Replies

Terry Scroggins last night at the Macon BPS, headed to Champlain. He was in line behind a guy that had a shopping cart filled up with soft plastics, cranks, and other stuff. After standing there 10 minutes or so, Scroggins paid for his $2600 worth of stuff. My buddy spoke to him walking out and Scroggins struck up a converation with him and killed 10 or 15 more minutes talking fishing and showing him his boat/truck. No one else there had any idea who he was. Said he had to be one of the nicest guys he had ever met.

That's super.

The bass pros are very nice guys and the one I know has offered free information about fishing just for the asking.

I guess I will have to start watching Scroggins.

Scroggins is the real deal. He and Preston Clark won over $150,000 in a year fishing team tournaments mostly in florida a few years ago. I would hate to have to see them two in the same boat on sat. morning every sat. Bet alot of those guys in Fla. were more than happy to see them go pro.

I met some of the biggest names in this sport back in 1995 (lucky me).  Basically just shook hands and short conversation with them on the final day weigh in of the 1995 BP Top 100 at Lake Minnetonka, MN.  They were ALL great guys, except Fritts was kinda grumpy after coming up a couple pounds short to Jim Bitter.  That was kind of understandable though.  Every one of those guys was great people.  The greatest of all???  Ray Scott!  What an incredible personality.

If you never saw Ray Scott emcee a tournament in his later years with all his stories, you really missed one of the best shows on earth!! Nothing that will ever happen to me from this day forward will surpass that experience.  Not even winning the lottery could match it.  I shook hands, talked with him for about 15 minutes and got his autograph on my hat before I left.  That hat hasn't been worn since and hangs from a hook here in my home office.
