Ok I'm definatley going to fish the FLW BFL event next year on Lake Champlain out of Plattsburgh, NY. because I want to start fishing bigger bodies of water and to get out of my back yard. But it is June 21st which is also my last week of classes, so that means I have finals and no time to prefish. I talked to to few people and my mom and should be able to borrow a bigger boat and a bigger truck. I have am very comfortable fishing Champlain and have lots of areas. But my spots are all near Ti or up by Canada so I will have atleast an hour run and its a gamle because I dont know if they will be there. So should I take a chance and fish it as a boater even though I wont be able to prefish or just suck it up and fish from the back of someone elses? Any input...

I guess it all depends on how much confidence you have in those spots you already know and also how much confidence you have in your own decision making to be able to adjust and find fish if your spots dont pan out.

I would definitely go as boater, I've been a boat owner for so long now that I am as uncomfortable as one can be fishing from the back deck. But thats just me. I trust my instincts and will immediately move if I'm not getting bit. If I fish boater and fail, I know that its all on me. And if I fished non-boater and my boater and I dont do very well, I dont want to be left wondering "Could I have done better if I had fished as boater?"

Thanks for the advice. Really appreciate it. Ya I do have a lot of confidence in my areas and they are usually hott in late June when most of those fish are post spawn. I think the same way too, I liek being up front on the trolling motor and I would rather know whether I can hack it or not and not have to think about the whole what if? deal.
