Jig Secrets

Featured Replies

Is there some secret to jig fishing I'm missing, every outing this year I tried jigs, and haven't even had a bite, I'd go back and fish the same spot with a T/R worm and hook up. I did a lot of searches on here and other sites and tried to follow all the guide lines but with no success.

Thanks

 Joe

what color are u using and what color water are u fishing?

what type of trailer or any trailer at all?

what type of style are u fishing as in working the jig?

I fished 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, haven't tried any 3/4 yet. I fished black/ blue w&w/out trailers, green pumpkin w&w/o trailers, white, black. I fish mostly around fallen timber, water is mostly stained, fished slow on the bottom and up and down swim back to the boat  I just can't get a bite. I'm not giving up, I'm just stumped.

thats very weird honestly. cause ur color patterns, with ru structure and color sounds very well put. id  keep a trailer and id recommend crawfish i use these in color 08 http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44635_100007002_100000000_100007000_100-7-2 very cheap and work well. all i can say is keep trying cause where ur fishing and the way your doing it. you should be catching fish. good luck hope this helps. also make sure to do slow drags across the bottom when using the trailer.

there you go with that attitude you'll have a 5lber on jig tomorrow AM. lol

If the fish aren't relating to the bottom or looking down, you'll have a tough time getting them on a jig. I think your best bet to get some confidence is fishing laydowns and brush up near the shoreline in shallow water.
