I wonder how many in the fishing industry are nervous about JVD.  I know I have aspirations of fishing at the Elite level at some point and to hear that there is a second Vandam out there makes me nervous.  I know the whole deal about fishing against the fish not the fishermen BUT lets face it when you are fishing along side someone of KVD's caliber it is hard to beat the fish better than he does.  Now there might be a second.  

For anyone who does not know what I am talking about.  Kevin's nephew, Jonathan Vandam, fished his first open tournament and was a threat from blast off!  He finished 3rd on the St. Johns River and he is 19.  Good job JVD.

If I was going to dedicate my life to fishing in order to be at the elite level it would be for the competition not monetary purposes.  So I would want to fish against the best in the world.  Even if I had to fish against Kevin's entire family tree.  

I do think its cool that his nephew is showing so much potential at an early age.  If he can fish at Kevin's level that could be a long dynasty for the Van Dam name.  

And I thought you were talking about Basspro48 or Triton9.

Yep...that thar young'en be Randy VanDam's kid.  I will give him a big congrats at the D & R open house on Easter weekend.  

Johnathan is always working on his fishing.

You know Squid you'd think Randy would have him giving a talk at the open house. He does have one scheduled or he might have already done it. Maybe I'll see you there if I can get away this year.
