6 hour tournaments

Featured Replies

Here in California the DFG enforces a 6 hour tournament rule during the summer. I was just curious is they have this rule throughout the country of it it is just in California. It sure puts a whole bunch more pressure on me personally not having those extra hours to fish, but i understand that it is better for the fish.

We blast off at sunrise and have a 4:30 PM weigh-in.

Way too long but that is what the club members want.

On two-day tournaments, we blast off at sunrise and weigh-in at 2:30 PM.  This is easier on knees and lower back.

Us old guys have suggested an earlier weigh-in but we were out voted so we have ten (10) hour tournaments.

We normally go from 7:00 to 3:00.

I have not seen that on any trails in Texas.   I do think it would be good idea for some of our hotter lakes in Texas if it aids in lower mortality rates.

Matt,

You hit the nail on the head.

If you catch two or three fish early in the AM you have to be concerned with their welfare all day long.

And with hot water and dirty conditions in some of the creeks, your well can get full of dirty water in a heartbeat.

Fish mortality is a tremendous problem with long, summer tournaments.

Good point.  :)
