I wasn't sure where to post this so moderators please move to the appropriate forum if needed.

My wife, father, and I will be attending the Blue Ridge Brawl on Smith Mtn. Lake next month and I am curious as to who else has attended events among the members here.

Is there anything we need to know before attending? Tips or Advice? We want to make the most of our trip and make sure we don't miss anything. We will not be bringing the boat for this trip and will probably stay outside of town. Any info would be appreciated.

I've been to it twice. Just show up, that's all you need. Take something to sit on.

I've been to two events. If you're up for it, I think being there early in the morning before blast off on the last day is the best day. The guys are just waiting around and you really get to see how they interact. You also get to see some of the preparations they go through and the mindset that they have.

Also, if you hang around for a while after weigh ins, like a pretty good while. You can often get to talk to the anglers in a more personal setting. Offer to help hook up their boat to their truck, etc.
