Passport for Fishing Canadian Waters...?

Featured Replies

Hello.  I'm getting conflicting reports on whether or not I would need a passport for fishing Canadian waters.  I was told as long as my boat doesn't dock or come in contact with another vessel, I will be fine.  Anyone know for sure or had any problems fishing St. Clair or Erie?  Thanks!!!

You only need a passport to go through customs, if you are not going through customs I would not see the need for one. When we fished Erie we stayed on one of the Islands in Canada for 4 days and I never remember having to go through customs. But when we go to Quetico every year we do have to go through customs and they have required a passport for the last few years.
