Has anyone fished the American Bass Tournaments

Featured Replies

Has anyone fished the American Bass Tournaments, I have saved up $70 to fish as a non boater on October 23 on the Potomac river.................

For 25 years and it's a great organization. I have made many friends and I hope no enemy's over the years. What district are you going to fish?

District 11............ How are the pay outs? Here are my Tournament Goals:

Weigh in at least 2 bass

     Land every bite I get

Learn as much as possible from the boater I am paired with

Increase my Strike to catch ratio

Fish as hard and effectively as possible

     Get at least 5 bites

     Learn something new

     Improve at least one technique

Catch a bass on a Crank bait

Try to fish as flawlessly as possible

     Put together a pattern

Catch at least 3 pounds of bass

     Catch 1 smallmouth bass

you are talking about the weekend series right?

I just fished two potomac weekend series this summer. I  have to say it is run poorly compared to every FLW event that I have fished, but if I was in town and had money for an entry fee, I would def sign up. ABA is not bad, but I'd rather do FLW

pj123, depending on where you put in on the Potomac you will encounter grass so read as much as you can about fishing the Potomac and its creeks before the tournament.

The Sexy Shad crankbait; white spinnerbait; and Senkos have done well for me. Also, last year we killed them on the pink trick worm.

Fish The grass lines and flip and pitch to any independent floating grass you see.

If in shallow water get ready to meet your first Snakehead.

Don't forget your needle nose pliers.

Have fun and be sure to let us know how you do.  :)

that was my exact arsenal last week with me and my buddies tourney
