Family fishing club...

Featured Replies

I've been toying with the idea of starting a Family Fishing Club and wanted to get the opion of all the fine fisherman/women here.

My question is this, would you join a club such as this with your family?

My hope is to make fishing a family affair that involves not only a father and his kids but also mom and the whole faimly.

Let me know what you think...

Thanks,

Alfred

I think it is a good idea, I believe kids are the future of our sport.  I strongly support getting families involved.

Al.. A friend of mine and I started a Christian Bass Club in our area.. And we also have a Jr club.. we mainly did this to get kids fishing.. all we had to hae is 6 adults in a club to charter the Jr club... i'd be glad to talk to you if you would like more info or are just curious.. send me a pm

I agree, it's a great idea!  And when children see other children involved in something (i.e. fishing), it's a huge  motivator, especially if mom and/or dad are involved.

Generally speaking, women and kids stink at fishing and they cry a lot.

I think a family fishing club is a fantastic idea!  :D

There's a local club in my area called the Hawg Hawlers Bass Club of St. Louis.

Here's a link to their website if you'd like to see how they're doing it.

They're a family oriented club with a pretty good sized membership. I've considered joining this club but haven't made up my mind.

Al,

I'd definately join if a family club existed in my area.  I would love to get my wife more involved in fishing and my 6 year old grandson has already become my favorite fishing partner.

THATS A GREAT IDEA. WE HAVE BEEN THINKING OF THE SAME THING IN OUR AREA(NORTHERN CAL.)FOR A WHILE.

KEEP US INFORMED ON THE PROGRESS.

I think it's a GREAT idea.  You can just go out fishing and have fun.  If you want to set up rules, etc.  you can borrow ours and make them any way you want.   You can find our info just type "Duluth Fishing League" into any search engine and you'll find us.

I have fished our fishing leagues two years with my son, and we made it to the top 5 each time and he's hooked.  It can become a bit difficult with the competition and juices flowing, so be sure you go into it to just be together and try to keep that in mind on the stressful nights.  I know we had nights he had to net all night and got frustrated, but hey we won.  And he had the same opportunities and learned from each of those nights.  Now he is going to fish the leagues with a friend.  So it was all worth it.

Family fishing leagues would be awesome.  Go for it...
