Rage Tail Anaconda

Featured Replies

Got tired of the office around noon, got a haircut and then ventured over to the new Richmond BPS off I-95 north of Richmond to check it out.

I asked Mike in the fishing department for the Rage Tail Anaconda's and he showed me where they "were" as they had mostly disappeared.

I picked up a pack of the smaller ones in Green Pumpkin.  In fact, it was the LAST package of the Green Pumpkin they had.  And they had only 6 or 7 packages of both the small and large versions left.

So how do I fish them?

Do I need barrel swivel if they twist?

Flouro line I know, about 10 or 12 pound test with a 3/0 straight shank or EWG hook, depending on how I feel.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

And the Bait Monkey will be happy as I dropped $250 by buying a beautiful 5:0:1 Curado 200E5 to go along with my Stren 20 pound mono and my two new Lucky Craft 1.5 cranks for use this fall in cover and structure.

P.S.  The store is beautiful.  The fish need some structure in the tank to reduce the stress on the bass. They expect 25,000 for the week of the grand opening and about 10,000 the weekend of the grand opening so Rondef, let's meet early next week before it gets really crazy.

Sept. 30th is out as I should be fishing the Vulcan Pond with John Kook if we can make it plus I have an LSU Alumni Assn. Board meeting that Tuesday night at 6 PM.

Hey Sam, I like ewg's 4/0 and under on the 7" and 5/0 and up on the 10". Also 1/4 oz is standard unless in deeper or windy conditions. Tx. rig and Carolina rig or light keel weighted hook for swimming over grass beds.

Might want to ck out the search bar to see others opinions...

Hope you whack'em

Sam, I have been using the 5/0 & 6/0 ewg hooks when using the 10" anacondas. I fish them both weightless and tx rigged with the barb tail side up.

Just got a pack of 'em in today! Okeechobee Craw is the color, in the 10" version. They look REALLY niiiice! The rest are on backorder... I plan on using a tungsten 1/4 oz screw-in weight and a 5/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook. I'll let y'all know how it goes whenever I get back out on the water!

Between greentop and BPS I got about 7 packs of the 10inchers in various colors.  I'm still on the edge with them, I fish them with 5/0 ewgs and all the bites so far have been right below the hook, so maybe a larger hook is in order.

Another thing is that the "rage" seems to catch the air when casting

Welp, I'm a fan. ;)

Nice 3.5 lb'r caught on my second cast with the Anaconda, using the setup mentioned a post above by me.

Yessir! Still waitin' on the other colors I ordered to get outta backorder! Can't wait!

Although I have caught several of the XL size bass on the Anacondas, I can't say that I have caught more of them on the 10" model.....The 7" model has actually been responsible for half of them. I have run out of the 10 inchers and the 7" model whacks just as many....

I think it has to do with the width of the worm and the overall action which makes it look much bigger in the water than it really is.

As usual when it comes to color, different colors seem more effective in different lakes ranging from the varieties of reds to dark greens. I am liking the "Red Bug" on the red side and "Double Header" on the green side. My favorite color to date thus far is Big Tx.

Nice fish! Next time out, I'm gonna use some JJ's on em that I've forgot I had for a while... Hopefully the ones I'm waiting for will get here by then. I want to try the rest of the colors!
