James River in the rain

Featured Replies

I have my last tourney of the year tomorrow morning on the James River in Va. Calling for thunderstorms and rain all day. Low 42 high 58. A tidal river. Mostly wood, some rip rap and barge pits. Any suggestions on that little bit of info? I'm rigged with a swimmin' jig, spinnerbait, buzzbait, shakey head, and Zoom Fluke jr. Planning on heading into the very back of a creek opposite where most everyone else will be going.

PS: This is only my fourth time on a tidal river.

Dynamite.

Try dynamite.

And then follow Roger, Dean, Dave G. and Jason and do what they do.

Otherwise, just have a good time and learn the river.

Happy Thanksgiving.

See you Wednesday night at the meeting.

Guess Who?????????

I'd definitely have a Pointer 78 close by......it has a way of getting tight lipped fish in the boat and with water temps falling it may just get you the bites you need to win.Regardless.....bundle up,stay dry, good luck and let us know what happens.

Wow. Mother nature definately showed us who was boss that day. 3 layers of clothes and still soaked to the bone and half froze. Couldn't even keep the boat in one place the wind was so strong. By far the worst conditions I've ever fished. Sam, we fished from the landing down to the 295 bridge before heading back to the bend to try and stay out of the wind. I was with Matt because my partner didn't show, as did a couple of others due to the weather. Better than working, but it sucked.

PS: Roger won with a limit, I got skunked again, Matt caught one. There were only three limits I think.
