llPa1nll
Ok, I'll paint the picture. We are at the launch air temperature is a brisk 36°F at 8:30AM today, with a steady to heavy wind, running down the length of the lake. We get the boat launched water temperature is a numbing 33.8°F. Water doesnt get much colder without getting chunky. I did end up hooking into 1 2lb bass in 15ft of water on a football jig head with a kreature bait on it. I tried tube, jig, blade, and trap. Water eventually warmed to 35.1°F. I snapped a pic off my Graph with my camera phone of the water temp for all you southern guys. Now thats cold water fishing!!! With that I am ending my season winterizing my boat and storing my gear. In another 3.5 months I will be at them again!!!
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted December 11, 2006 Super User Share Posted December 11, 2006 Wuss .... ;D j/k Yep, it's probably getting to that point where it's really not all that safe to be out there. Time to let the cabin fever set in and recharge for next season.
Thefishy1
The tournament that our club had last weekend was even worse than that. Even though the water temp was in the high 40's the air temp at blastoff was a nice and toasty 14 degrees. and the fish were freezing to the measuring boards in some peoples boats PS And now 5 days later its sunny and

llPa1nll
burrrr, its the same around here, in the shallower areas ice is already starting to form :-[ I hear you there. My Marina is all frozen over. I actually backed my truck into the water this AM to breakup the Ice so it would make it a little easier to get our boats out tomorrow. This isnt a hobby, its an illness/addiction. I hopefully will be able to break my all time latest fishing date of December 19th, Now up here in New Hampshire thats saying something. BucketmouthAngler13
Yeah here in central NJ the ice is starting to form. I have already put my rods away and am nearly going crazy waiting for spring. This one thought consoles me: 92 days till the middle of march and counting! I live in NC and it was about 70 degrees all day long. Dont know how far you guys are from that kind of weather but give it a thought! Low_Budget_Hooker
Brushpile, he' sounds like he's complaining but here in New England, fishing these conditions is the same as taking a chance at big time bragging rights. Fishing 33 degree water and catching is a hard core thing. Be successful and YOU ARE THE MAN! however, fall in and you WERE the man, lol. Way to stay at it Pain.
