Strip pit bass

Found out about some old strip mine ponds earlier this week and went out this evening in the rain before work.

Got soaking wet, found the ponds (anywhere from 3/4 acre to 3 acres).  Tried a senko with no luck, switched over to a black/blue jig with a brown/green trailer (only trailer I had) and got bit quite a bit.  Landed one 8" bass and quite a few tree fish.

Great looking ponds though.  Two of the ponds are big enough for the canoe, so I'll probably drag it back there sometime.  Only bad thing is that the biggest pond is a mile back off the road.

A wet day fishing is better than a dry night at work.   ;)
