Popping a wacky rigged Senko Style bait

Featured Replies

I watched The video LBH made about fishing jigs and so  I tried the retrieve methods on A stickbait today."Popping" my wacky rigged Trick stick gave me some success. The only 2 fish I caught today were caught using this method.

Was wierd. I would let the bait go to the bottom, then periodically POP the bait. Both fish I caught were hooked when I would let the bait fall and then POP it,They were there. Talk about a surprise,to feel nothing and then suddenly feel something solid.

A new technique!

Send it to Bass Times, Bassmaster Magazine and Bassin.

So, to understand how you fish the Wacky worm...

You cast it out.

Let it fall.

Wait.

Pop the bait hard.

Wait.

Pop the bait hard.

Wait.

Reel in and start over.

Sounds like a winner and I am going to try it.

Right now I raise my rod tip a few inches and let the worm fall back to the bottom but I do not do this with any power.

Great idea.  Thanks for sharing.

Maybe those lazy bass that are staging in the deeper and cooler water will go after the bait.

You are "The Man"!!!!! ;)

sounds like it should work .... worth a try !!

hey didnt you post last week saying you were done with stickbaits ,and were gonna try some new lures ;D  congrats on the outing

I know a few people who do this with pretty good success. One guy puts a weight and a bead above the hook so it sinks to the bottom quicker.. Kinda kills the point of it slowly falling, but he manages to catch fish.

It's a great way to fish a wacky rigged senko.

keep it up

yup, works with jigs, senkos, worms, lizards, anything you put on the bottom.

I'm convinced it is because a fish sees it settle, goes over to investigate and is nose down investigating this odd thing in it's territory,....and then it pops up out of the grass.

You are essentially triggering a reaction bite.  You really feel like you have put something together when you start putting them in the boat like this.

Great job!
