Finally, I caught a fish.

Featured Replies

After a couple outings with no caught fish at a local quarry, I finally had a good day.  I got out of my classes at college and went fishing around 3pm, and got home around 6pm.  During that time, I caught 4 largemouth which were dinks (10inches), but it doesnt matter to me.  The only fish that got away was a nice lm which I estimated at around 2lbs.

I went to the local bait shop, and got a new rapala jointed shad rap, and thats what killed em today.  I know most people say a 10inch fish isnt anything special, but I just started fishing this summer, and Im really excited to catch anything.  Since Ive been busy with college I havent been able to fish alot since I went to milcreek lake down in marshall, Illinois.  But im going back sunday and Im gonna catch some catfish, and hopefully somemore bass.

Ill be sure to have a camera this time.

P.S.  Has anyone tried a dip bait worm, and fill it with a catalpa worm scent.  I got some from the bait shop, and I just wanted to see if anyone else has tried this.. Since I cant find a catalpa tree anywhere.

Hey man congrats dude.  I feel you.  I just started this summer as well and had my first four fish day (all under 10") last week at a lake that has beat the pulp out of me the past 6-7 times I went out (was fishing the wrong side of the lake apparently).  Anyway, I know the feeling.  I don't care if they are dinks, the important thing is your improving your hook up to catch ratio, your skill, and your understanding of the different baits available to catch bass.  I think thats awesome man.  Good job out there.  Good luck on the next trip and can't wait to see the pics next time!

We all have our days when we either get skunked or catch dinks.......just part of fishing.  What keeps us going back for more is knowing the next cast may be the fish of a lifetime...........you just never know.  The more there is a hook in the water, the better the chance of catching.

No fish, little fish or the fish of a lifetime...........I look forward to the next cast.......... ;)

When I have one of those days I just hang in there and keep chunkin. 8-)

Congrats on your fish. Some of the folks that have already responded (including me) have been fishing longer than some of the other members have been wearing long pants (we won't mention any ages here ;D) and still have worse days than you had. Better days are coming with the next cast.

Hopefully you are talking about catfish in your PS. No personal experience with what you are talking about but have heard that type of bait works good for cats. When I was a little boy my Daddy had me climbing every Catalpa tree in the neighborhood for worms. We used them for bream fishing...

Yea, I was talking about catfish.  But I went last sunday and didnt do any catfishing.  Took my little cousin, I caught a couple dinks, and unfortuatly he didnt catch anything.  But, I'm taking him fishing for carp, and then maybe some bluegill if that doesnt work out.

Thanks
