Lake Talquin Oct. 27

Featured Replies

I am like a little kid on Christmas Eve the night before a day of fishing. I couldn't sleep and kept waking up and looking at the clock. I finally got up at 5:15 and got to the lake about 6:30 a.m. Problem is, Lake Talquin is so full of stumps that I am afraid to get out on it until daylight.

I am going to buy some land on Lake Talquin and erect a windmill to generate electricity. I'll be rich in no time since the wind seems to blow constanty on that lake. We finally found a spot just out of Little River that held some fish and was protected enough to fish.

I caught about 8 fish, I guess, but they were all little guys except for this one 3 pounder.

I am becoming a big fan of the Aruku Shad. I generally resist buying expensive baits, but my neighbor had me try one while fishing in his boat this summer and I immediately started catching fish. Most of the fish I caught yesterday came on the Aruku, including one bluegill that wasn't a whole lot bigger than the bait.

Talquin is one of my favorite childhood spots. My dad had a little place down there for years. Great crappie "speck" lake. Does anybody ever see Josh from the old Whipperwill marina anymore? Wonder how his is doing?

I just started fishing Talquin recently so I am afraid I am not familiar with Josh.

I read an post on a local board this evening stating that the specks are really starting to show up in about 10-15 feet of water.
