It's 27*...

there's snow on the way, and the water is probably hard. But I'm headed to a couple of ponds to throw a jig for a while.

Plus I've been up since 6 yesterday evening.  I dont' know if I'm an insomniac or just plain stupid. ;D

I know the feeling.  It finally got above freezing today for the first time in several days here.  It's supposed to get up to around 40 tomorrow and then start snowing.   Seeing all the fishing talk on here has given me the itch so I'm headed to the water tomorrow to try my luck.  Even if I don't catch a thing, it'll be nice to toss a few lures around anyway.

Well, at least let us know how you did, you big frozen icicle.

I dont' know if I'm an insomniac or just plain stupid. ;D

We do :-? ;D :P

Catch 'em up :)

Burley,

I almost went out today to try my luck on some local ponds and then changed my mind.

It is overcast and cold in Richmond and we are expecting about an inch of snow later today and tonight.

I must admit that I did fish in the snow on Lake Gaston last February and we did great.  My buddy got his limit; I got three beauties and missed two others; one of which is still headed towards Chicago with one of my favorite crankbaits.

We had an inch of snow and ice in the boat.

A lady came onto her porch and told us that she was going to take our photo as she could not believe anybody would be out fishing in that weather.

Let us know if you have any luck.

Made the mistake (  :P ) of stopping by TheBeast's shop on the way to the pond and being the nice person that I am, I delayed my trip for an hour and half until he closed.

Thankfully there was very little ice on either pond.  We hit the lower pond first, I got a light bite on a jig, but that was it.  Had to leave as the wind was coming in just hard enough to make it miserable.

Moved to the upper pond, started throwing a stickbait.  TB got bit on a jig, lost his skirt.  After about an hour of chipping ice out of guides and the levelwind, I gave up.

Forgot to look at the thermometer in my truck, but it was around 30* with a brisk NE wind.  Definitely the coldest weather I've ever fished in.

Now for the photographic evidence...

The beavers are tearing this place up.  That snow fell on Wednesday.  Already down to bare dirt.

More beaver carnage.  That poplar is about 15" in diameter and barely hanging on.  They have felled about 40 trees around the lake in the last 5 months

Yours truly thanking God for UnderArmor and Thinsulate.

Oh well, my fishing jones is satisfied for at least another month.  Or until the next warm spell.  ;)

Good pics, but where are the fish?

Where were you fishing, I might have to invade it ;)

Perhaps we can do a spot trade this year.  TheBeast got a 7 pounder out of one of those ponds last fall.

They didn't cooperate.   :'(

That's ok, maybe next time!  At least you're trying  ;)

Sounds good. If we could meet up at Big Cherry I could show you some places better than I could describe them.

Well with you as a local I'm sure the beavers are safe.

As a matter of fact I bet there isn't a beaver within 100 miles of you that is in much danger of being stuck ;D

There's nothing wrong with a little beaver. At least that's what I say.

Those are some cool pictures. I have been waiting patiently for a spell of 20 degree days so this one place opens up and I can go cast some lures. Its always open, ..wait I guess not always, since it's frozen now :-[

-22 yesterday morning. Truck was a bear to start.

Sorry, but 27 degrees..you guys are killing me!! it got up around 6 today Sweating buckets out there!!
