I got back from Lake Seminole last Sunday and had a blast! I havent been able to get on a computer in a while or I would have posted sooner. I caught around 15-20 bass and 7 crappie. Our guide was great and new exactly what the bass were doing. My biggest was around 4 and our guide's was probably 5.5#. They all bit either junebug or watermelon ultravibe speed worms rigged on a 2/0 reg. offset hook with a 1/8 or 3/16 oz weight depending on depth. I threw them on my relatively new Sol/TD L&T BC combo. It did great and I got to break it in. My mom caught some nice fish too. She semed to have fun fishing and had fun talking to our guide.

Ill get some pics later when I can get photobucket to work.

Who was your guide?

I wondered when you were going down there.

About time for me to hire you on BC.  ;)

His name is Leon Weaver. He guides out of Wingates.

Did you get to meet Mr. Wingate while you were there?  He's a bit of a legend.

Yeah, he was around the lodge every day. Heck of a nice guy.

BC ought to pick up in another month. June is the best topwater bite but just before and after is the best for biggies. Ill be up there tommorow if it doesnt rain or sunday. Im expecting the JR7 to do well :-X

the best topwater bite

Take that same worm, 1/8 oz weight, and hook but rig the worm 'upside down' so that the 'V' cut in the tail is pointed down. That worm has seams so be sure to rig the hook directly through the seams, keeping the worm straight.

Now throw that rig as far as you can and engage the reel as it hits the water and REEL!  You now have a very effective but subtle "buzzbait" and if the topwater bite is 'on', hang on as you will get "hand grenade" like strikes!

You can also 'kill' the fast retrieve, letting the worm flutter down and pick up a 'follower' that way too.
