Quantico Marine Base (Potomac River) Part 2

Featured Replies

Attached are some pictures of the bass we pulled out on our second trip here in two weeks.  We didn't catch the 18 lbs or so we caught last week but we had enough bites to get that or more.  The bite was a LOT more different out here during the passing front (fished between storms).  My report explains all the happenings.  Feel free to check it out and comment for you local NOVA guys, and or anyone else interested:

It's the first blog entry on there.

Today we caught 5lbs 8ozs.  All fish came topwater over submerged/emergent hydrilla and or over huge areas of lilly pads.  I caught my fish on a Cavitron Buzzbait and my dad caught his on Rage Tail Frogs.

Big fish was 1lb 11oz.  Woo Hoo!!! Haha.  But we had bigger at the boat.  Still trying to get the hang of lipping and directing bass in a canoe with fields of lilly pad systems... lots of fun.  Braid anyone?!?!?!?

Most of these fish had a nice belly.  My dad's last keeper had length though.  Good day overall because I got time with my dad.  Our hook up ratio sucked today, but you can't be perfect every time out.  Somedays the bass win the match.

This was a lot of fun again. We had close to 40 strikes and missed a lot of fish due to them getting tangled up in the pads. I still had a real good time out there and look forward to our next trip out. Man I love those rage tail frogs.
