evening trip

Featured Replies

I decide to go out this evening just for a little while. I left around 4:30 right after a good rain. By the time I got out there the clouds were gone and tha sun was blazing. I started out throwing the magnum fluke and a power bait worm on a offshore grass flat. I fished it hard for about an hour without a sniff. So I ran to fish some wind blown points and again I bombed out. I was running out of patience. I went for my last option. I started fishing some real heavy grass mattes with the rage tail frog (I luv this frog). Then 3 hours into the trip with an hour and a half left I catch my fist fish, a nice 3 1/2 lber. It felt good to finaly get my rod bent and to start gaining confidence. This was just the begining of a good evening. I ended up catching about 15 fish total with 4 of them over 4 lbs. and this nice 5 lber. That rage tail frog is an awesome lure I've had some really great days with it and today will go on that list.

Sounds like an awesome trip. Congrats on all of the fish.  I couldn't see the pic you posted though.

Nice going Marshmaster, what was your set up - hook, line rod etc. and Rage Toad color. From the looks of the water behind you, you were the Slopmaster.

zoom 6/0 frog hook tiped with a glass bead

2 pks of green pumkin with chartruese belly (the best)

That was some tuff slop to fish. The trolling motor didnt like it at all but the fish love as you can see. Its so hot down here that the fish bury under it. The only thing I can do is throw a frog or hit the holes. I've tryed using a 1 1/2 tungsten weight an that didnt even go threw it.
