i dont know much about useing jigs so if anyone would give me some tips it would be apretiated

Jigs can be fished just like a T-rigged soft bait or can be swam like a spinnerbait.  When you cast them out try hopping them along the bottom short jerks of the rod up will cause it to jump off bottom then let it slowly sink back down. There are several good articles about them on this site I would look at all of them and get a better idea.
