33" Stripah from Rhode Island.

Featured Replies

While I am not typically a fan of "tailgate" or "driveway" shots, I will share my catch today.

Was ready to go early this morning, but decided to stick around the house for a little while to have some quality family time. Left the house at 8:30, by the time I got my gear on and got to my spot it was about 9:45. Big swells and 25mph winds didn't scare the white bucket brigade away. On my 4th cast with the yellow/white Danny, I hooked into a 33" bass.

I had no intentions of keeping the fish. When I went to revive it, I thought the guy next to me was gonna tackle me. I tried for a few minutes, but the fish wouldn't come around, so as to avoid an ugly situation with my neighbor, I packed up and left.

I kept one at the beginning of the season, and I will keep this one towards the end. Heading back tomorrow, hopefully for some Catch and Release action.

Great pic Matt. That one needs a frame. Glad your suffering paid off.

3 oz Gibbs Danny. Yesterday was the first day with this plug. I learned quickly that it needed to dig a bit deeper, so I bent the line tie up slightly. Now it runs about 6-8" below the surface. The fish absolutely hammered it.

Tossed it out maybe 75/80 yards, reeled up the slack as fast as I could turn the handle, waited for it to dig, then started the slow retrieve. When it got halfway through the whitewater out front, the hit came!

That 10'6" Loomis and Daiwa Emblem with 400 yards of 50# Powerpro really launches it out there. But as we know, most of the fish are in tight to the rocks.  :) Still cool to send those big woods out there.  ;)

The Danny isn't any bigger than the Working Girl, but it's through wired. Think the screws would pull out?

Yup. Standing on the rocks in 4-5 foot surf. Today looks to be even worse, supposed to blow 30 mph. Bring it on!  :o

Sounds like a great time. I bought a surf rod last year and have only used it once since.  :'(

What a shame, you had to keep and eat one of the best tasting fish around. ;)

Nice fish btw!

wtg on the striper. they are always ready for a fight.
