Walker Lake

Featured Replies

My dad and I went to fish Walker today. We put in at around 11:30-got out at 3:30. The wind was a howlin' at 25 mph most of the time and the water was murky, about 10 inches visibility. With the 50 degree air temp, colder water temp, cloudy, windy, and 1 1/2 foot waves, it was miserable. We headed up towards the grass and pads first. We hit out first good area on the opposite side as the boat launch where the private launch is. There are some cattail clumps there. My dad landed the first, and only fish of the trip, about 2 pounds, there at the clumps throwing a 5 inch black senko. I on the other hand, had 1 bite on a brown BPS enticer jig with a watermelon pepper Net Bait paca craw. The fish played with it for 2 casts, when he took it and ran with it on the second cast and I set the hook, I felt the weight, but as quick as it was there, it was gone. That was all the action we had. There was only one other boat there, 2 guys on a really nice Ranger with a 225 on it. All I can figure was that we werent fishing deep enough. I think we should have been fishing on the launch side down towards the dam. I will be going there again maybe next weekend, so I hope to have a better report then.
