First outing of 2009

Featured Replies

Took my buddy fishing today for our first outing of 2009 and had a blast. Weather was forecast to 70 for a high. It was 40 when we got to the pond at 7:45 and I almost quit because of numb fingers. Our original plan was to drag jigs and see what we could catch. After about of an hour of no luck I tied on a DT-4 in a bluegill color and caught a bluegill on the first cast. In the next 10 minutes I caught a a bluegill, 2 crappie and a bass on my crankbait. Needless to say my buddy borrowed a crankbait and we fished until 11:30. We caught and relelased about 55 fish before we had to leave. I never knew how much I had missed fishing because of winter till today. It was a great day.

55 fish?  Nice!!!  What pond was this?  My wife went out to Hefner on Saturday but it was so windy that she said she couldn't do much.

My buddy has a pond on his property out by Piedmont. I'm probably the only person that's fished it in about 3 years for bass.
