I got a call Monday from Paul wanting to know if I wanted to fish some Tuesday. With the high around 80 degrees, a full moon, and an incoming front approaching; I was all for it.

I met at his house at 8:30 on Tuesday morning and we're on the water by about 9. We knew pretty quick what kind of day it was gonna be. He had caught two fish within the first thirty minutes! Seems like they were keyed in on a red lipless bait. I put down my fluke and pick up my Super Spot and by the 10 we've both caught several fish. Looking like a great day with potential for huge numbers  

Before too long the weather front starts to work it's way in. The wind picks up and starts to make it real hard for two fellas fishing out of a jon boat. We continue to fish around and catch fish continually off of red lipless baits. We soon start to focus on the wind blown points and cuts. These areas seemed to hold stacks of better fish.

It was getting closer to end of the day and we had caught a large amount of fish but nothing to really brag about yet. Several twos and some threes also but nothing to really make the trip BIG. We troll up to the mouth of a windblown cove and I hook up on back to back casts. The first fish was maybe 12". The second fish was a little bit bigger though. We get her to the boat and weigh her just for the fun of it. 4.75. We fish on out and continue to catch more and more fish. No more big ones though.

We come back around and face the same cove were I caught the 4.75 at. Paul slams back on a fish and the next thing I know I'm netting his 4.5.

All in all it was a great day. We managed to catch a few fish on other baits but all in all I'd say 80% of our fish came off of Paul's XR50 or my Super Spot. By the time we were done I'd say we had caught at least 60 fish with our best 5 going somewhere between 18-19 lbs.

This is our 4th or 5th trip, I'm still waiting patiently for my big girl. He's promising me a big one, and I believe him, but like anybody else would say it's just not soon enough!

Great guy to fish with though and great to be on the water just talking to.
