a short story

Featured Replies

so recently i was in a tournament and was shown the drop shot rig. i decided to buy some hooks and some 6# yo-zuri hybrid (thanks to all the proponents on br for this) and try it on a small lake near my house. it was in the middle of the day and i wasnt expecting to catch much but i forced myself to bring just the rig so i could learn it. long story short, i found bluegills bedding and just beyond them bass just waiting to pounce on an unsuspecting bluegill. my first first was about a 14 inch spawned out female and as i was reeling her in, i see two massive shadows swimming near the edge of the beds. quickly released the 14 incher and a few minutes later i caught this monster. funny thing was the slightly smaller one (estimated 20in.) was following the one i hooked all the way up to shore. unfortunately you wont be able to see me next to it as a comparison since i was fishing alone but it was about 22.5 inches and im guessing around 6.5 lbs. my new personal best:)

basically im glad i learned the dropshot and had such a great reward for it:)

*edit* i will post pics once i am removed of my noob status..lol
