Father's Day Trip

Featured Replies

Kinda late posting this, but I took my old man fishing on Sunday.

We went out to the private pond I fish in East Texas at dawn, and though the fish were biting ok I just couldn't get one on the end of my dad's line.  I never realized how important it is to be able to cast until I fished with someone that couldn't. (it was his first time bass fishing :)  )

But, we had a great time on the water and it was the first time we've spent that much time together (just the 2 of us) in many years.

I caught a few on a lobster/jig and caught a bunch with a lobster on a keel-weighted hook.  Good times.  Next time I'll bring some live bait for Dad. :)

Here's one I caught on a lobster on a swimbait hook.

Nice fish. Glad to hear you guys had a good time. I took my dad fishing for Father's Day also, he hooked into one that would have been a new personal best. But after a long fight, it came off.  :'(

That's great ETB, nice to hear you and your Dad had a good time

Big O

I fished all over East Texas when I was growing up...what neck of the woods were y'all in? Nice looking fish btw.

The pond is near highway 20, between Canton and Van.  Its a little over an hour drive from home.  I live right next to Lake Ray Hubbard, but I barely fish it as I don't yet own a real bass boat.

And the Lucky Hat comes through again! Nice job!
