;D

went out to DNP today. its an old boy scout camp. really beautiful park. last couple times i went out i was skunked. i went back again this morning and cought two in 4 hours. first one was around 8:30ish by some swimming docks. cought her on a perch shad rap (sr5)

a few hours later , after i walked around the take and the smaller pond , i landed this monster by the boat dock on a 3/16 shakey head and a 5" gulp wacky crawler , key lime pie in color. i was hopping it along the bottom when the came out from underneath and grabbed it

my first jig fish! not really much of a fight , but it was still rewarding.

i still threw more casts with a bucktail jig and a 3.5" beaver but got nothing. i did come across this -

at the time i was throwing both the bucktail and the shaky head but with a 4" lizard. all i got was a short strike that didnt amount to anything. what would you guys of done here?

anyways , all in all , it wasnt too bad of a morning. it was warming up from the coldfront we had , so the weather was great and i have built up some confidence in the shaky.  8-)

also , it was my first outing with my new shimano clarus which cought me both. feels great with my abu 801 on it and is plenty sensitive to feel the bottom. cant really say much else about it , but i can tell it does have enough backbone to bring in some decent sized fish.

definitely a great rod for the money  8-)
