FLW College tourney on Guntersville

Featured Replies

Hey Guys, I'm gonna be fishing the FLW collegiate tournament on Lake Guntersville tomorrow. If anyone is in the area please come out and support us and the event. FLW has set up a great format for us college anglers with the use of boats and pros to ride us around the lake.

I've been studying hard and hopefully have come up with a great plan. Without practice I have had to use map study to narrow down my areas. I want to thank Catt for all his knowledge that he puts on the board about fishing structure and Hydrilla. Also everyone else that I don't know as well but has added things to help me plan for this event. Yall wish me luck and remember to pull for Troy University. Thanks Guys. I'll have a report next week about how it goes.  ;)

GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck man.

I partied with the Troy football team in New Orleans once. Worst hangover I've ever had, and they had to play in two days.

Good luck, I know one of our local (SIU) teams finished 2nd at Lake of the Ozarks and advanced. It earned the college and the club a cool $5.000.

Good luck mottfia kick some bass!

Hey good luck man!  I'd be there but we are fishing the Big 10 championship on St. Clair this weekend.

So how'd u do Mottfia?  I was stuck working a shutdown here in Decatur, AL and saw all the boats wondering what big tourn. was going on?  Fish em while u can before the life of work begins!!!

How did you do? My buddy Brad and his partner from Young Harris College here in GA won with over 19 lbs and got a check for $10,000. I didn't know there was that kind of money involved in these until yesterday. :o

Hey guys,

Well my mistake trend continues on Guntersville. Fishing hydrilla seems to be a weakness for me but thats ok. I'll keep working at it. We got on a late pattern that gave us a couple but we only had 20 minutes left when we found it. We ended up with 5lbs.  :P Not a great showing but all in all I had a great time.

Our boater was awesome. His name is Jeremy Vanderbosche from Michigan. We traded jokes and stories for 7 hours while we tried to figure the fish out.

I want to congrat Young Harris College. They tore some lips. Catching 5 lbs more the nearest guys on a Triple Trout swimbait. Good job guys.

Guys I do want to say that FLW really treats us well. They gave us a driver, money to get there, and they pay extremely well. Not to mention they put us on some great lakes. They won me over with how they did things.

I wish I could tell a story about us doing well but it wasn't any the cards this time. We'll get em next time. Thanks for all the support guys.  ;D

I wish I had seen this before so I could have come by said hi, I was representing Coastal Carolina.

Also, I agree with Mottfia, FLW does a great job of taking care of everyone in the college series. We did not do as well as I had hoped also, but we had three fish anchored by a nice 5lb kicker.

National Guard pro Johnthan Newton was our boater and he was really nice guy, told us about his experiances as a pro, what its like to fish professionally for a living, etc.

Overall it was a fun day, now we are looking forward to the regional Championship.
