Hey beggers can't be choosers.  At least you broke the ice, now to catch them all!

Good work dude. Once you start catching them more you will gain different techniques that will help you put more and more into the boat.

You picked a great frog to start with.  IMO, the spro is the best all around frog.  It does everything really well, and the hook up ratio is good as far as frogs go.  Some frogs do some things better, some will walk better, but will not skip as good, etc.  I really like some of the paint jobs other companies offer but SPRO has some great new colors they are coming out with this year.  I fish my frogs outside the mats quite a bit so color matters to me.

as soon as you catch a fish on a bait, your confidence grows as well as the size of the fish

That's when I had my first frog fish, and I've been 'gut-hooked' ever since that on froggin. There ain't no turning back for you now.

I often say... "If frog fishing does not excite you, check your pulse, I think you died".....but I am an openly admitting 'frog-aholic'.

As the water temps get hotter and hotter, the frog bite only gets better and better.

Have fun !

Ribbit, ribbit  !!

Nice catch Nick.  Now that you have confidence, the fish will come on a more regular basis.  Remember to SLAM that hook home.  Weak hooksets are the number one reason why people miss fish on a frog IMO.

Senko 77,

To me, the number one reason most anglers will miss frog bites is because they suffer from what I call 'premature ejerkulation".... meaning they pull the frog away on seeing the splashing water of the fish's attack, and them not giving the Bass enough time to close it's mouth on the bait, with the resut being the frog coming flying back at the angler [and away from the fish now].

Once you feel the fish pulling, or at least see your line tightening by the fish pulling froggy in it's mouth, THEN slam that rod back, and let the fish feel the steel, crossing it's eyes with your rock-solid hookset.

Frogging is NO time for a light finesse rod nor light line.

Good job!

i typically count to 3 before setting the hook with everything i got.  and i use braid for no-stretch factor.  great job on the catch, they will only get bigger from here!
