Lake Eufaula trip...caught my first gator

Featured Replies

I got to go fish a 2 day tourny at Lake Eufaula, GA this past weekend. The fist day my partner and I spent 10hrs on the lake and I only caught 1 3lb LMB and a 2lb striper. On the second day we went to a different part of the lake and spent 3 hours trying to figure out what the fish were hitting. When we found it we only had 2hrs left till turn in. My partner got skunked again but I pulled in 5LMB on a weightless senko. 2 were not keepers but 3 were and weighed 2.6, 4.3 and 4.9. I also managed to pull in this 4' gator on my carbonlite rod and reel. We guessed it weighed about 30lbs and you can still see part of my frog stuck on the side of it's moust where the 5/0 hook was set. It was a rush to say the least. Sorry for pick quality as it was taken from my phone.

Is that a gator?

yep

I gotta know if you were brave/crazy enough to unhook your frog from the gator or did you just cut the line ?

The gator was nice enough to cut the line for me.  I had a gator that was about 15' blow up on a frog out in the open.  It cut the frog and hook in half like a pair of wire cutters.  Speaking of brave/crazy...we say people inertubing on the lake.  Idiots if you ask me.
