Had a club tourney today on a local toilet. Started under cloudy nasty looking skies at 7am and headed for a small rock pile in 2-3' of water and hit a 12" fish on the tube that was thinner than the golden ruler I measured him on. But it was a keeper to start the morning.

Continued onto a few more rock piles with nothing on the tube or jig. So next came a grassbed in 7-9' that had about 3' of grass already coming up. I hit 2 more skinny 12" fish on the trap 3 casts apart. So I had three keeps in the box by 9am and then the rain started. It seemed to really slow the bite down as even the pickerel stopped smoking the trap.

Left the grassbed and headed to where the old river channel swings close to the bank before turning. Worked the tube in 7-9' and hit 2 more 12" fish on the tube. So now I had 5 fish for about 4 pounds, wonderful. I had more fish than anyone else but really lacked any weight and knew there were some guys who usually owned the lake and I would need about 12-14 pounds. This place is loaded with 2-3 pound fish.

So the bite really slowed and then the sun came out at around 2pm. I started running from rock pile to rock pile in 2-3' culling out 12" fish with 14" fish. ::)

The tube got stuck in a rock so I motored over to get it out and when I looked around I saw a fish on a bed about 10' from where my tube was stuck. I got it out and circled around to the backside of the fish. After 6 casts I got her to go, all 2.5 pounds of her. ::)

Well, somehow, my 5 rats and 2.48 was good enough for 1st and lunker.  ;D

I had the only limit, the two bags with 4 fish went 3.3 and 3.5. Was absolutely awful but it makes me love my medium-light rod, 6 pound line, and finesse fishing.  8-)

When the local sticks say it's tough and can't bang out a limit, it makes me proud of my 14" fish.  ;D

6.88 LOL, lowest winning weight I have ever seen.

HAHA.  That's awesome.  Congrats.
