so i got to my fishing lake with high hopes. i wanted to catch fish with the bitsy bug jig with half of a 2 inch powerworm as a trailer. this thing looked great. i also threw in a casting rod with a black with chartruse tail culprit 7.5 in worm ( one of my confidence baits.) and put a couple rage craws(summer craw) and another worm in a platic bag with a couple hooks and weights and a pair of pliers. but i really didnt intend to use any of those, i was focused on that finesse jig. well i get to my spot and find that there is a medium sized patch of duckweed up against the dam near where i was fishing. well needless to say the only thing that loved the jig was the baby bluegill. so i went over to the duckweed and i had seen some fish feeding on top so i casted to them with my jig but no takers. so i tried my worm that had a 1/4 oz weight. not the ticket.. so i took the weight off and had a nice strike but it was on the chartuse tail. man what i wouldve given for my takle bag which has all my spro frogs in it. but then it hits me. why not a rage craw weightless. it casted like a rock and made great top water noise and the fish loved it. it made a great bubble trail. not as much commotion as a rage toad(which can be a good thing sometimes) and necessity is the mother of all invention and it turned a bad day into a decent day. now im going back tommorrow with my spro poppin frog and my rod with braid. im excited. hopefully pics tommorrow!

I'll do similar things with them when I'm t-rigging it.  I'll just burn them back across the surface on occasion.  I've stuck a few nice fish doing it.  Makes a decent amount of noise and commotion.

The ragetail spacemonkey and Lobster are also a bunch of fun to fish weightless along the surface.

I don't even know how many fish I've caught using the Lobster as a top water bait. It's kinda nice, because when I want to switch it up on them, all I have to do, is stop, and let it drift on down to work the bottom, no bait changing necessary.

thats what i loved too. when id come to a hole in the duckweed id pause it and let it sink.

X2,  When a finesse topwater is in order, I like a weightless Rage Craw too then move my way up to the Lobster for longer casts and more water movement
