little chatter bait and jig

Featured Replies

I can't seem to catch many fish with these little chatter baits 1/8th ounce or bitsy bug jig! Where and when is it good to use these things? Also what colors do you like most? Any tips would be great!

Crisd,

We need more info on the body of water you are fishing.

With a light Chatterbait, you will need to use a low test line, like 4 or 6 pound fluoro line. And you can fish it on a spinning rig.

Fish it like a jig or a Texas rigged plastic or just throw it out and reel it back.  Hit everything you can with it. Fish it slow, fast, stop-go, yo-yo, etc.

Blue/Black can work but if you give us the water you fish, its clarity, temperature and if you are fishing from shore or a boat we can give you better responses.  :)

I like the Bitsy Bug in two colors.  Black or brown with a matching Netbait Tiny Paca Chunk.

Why are you fishing such a small chatterbait?

Try the 1/4 and 3/8 oz. Strike King Pure Poison.

I tried these smaller blade baits and was disappointed in how they ran.  They rolled over on me all the time unless I fished them painfully slow.  Went to the bigger ones and found I had more control, could add a lot more and different style trailers.  The bigger baits work better for me in all kinds of water.  Plus I can vary the rate of retrieve to suit the conditions I am faced with.
