Fishing in the weeds (not fun)

Featured Replies

Fished a lake this morning that was total weeds. If it wasn't to the top, it was 6" below the surface. Not just a part, the whole lake. It's very shallow. The problem wasn't the fishing. It was using the trolling motor. It was close to impossible. Fishing wasn't that bad though. We had 5 fish on frogs. They wouldn't hit anything else. I'm thinking push pole next time. Any suggestions?

Fished places like this before, fortunately the whole pond wasn't.What we did to navagate was sharpen the troll'n blade edge with sandpaper, take the trolling motor and tilt it up so the tip of the blade was 6 inches or so below the surface.Beaver tailed paddles also helped(feather your strokes).Makes a racket but does push you along.G/L

Thanks for the tips, I'll try them this weekend. It's a nice place to fish because it's trolling motor only and you have to rent the rowboat. Very quiet all day.
