Had a club tourney @ Eufaula this past Sat. and needless to say it was ROUGH. We tried everything in our power to boat some decent fish. We know somebody was going to come to the scales with 15+. 12:30 still no fish. We had some shad schooling really well in the moring returned with high hopes and could see the schools on the Lowerance but could not get anything fired up. 1:00 fished a spot we had with some deep cover in a channel swing around 18ft. A few casts later and we boated a 4.2 on a jig. Well its a little late but we had a start. 2:00 we headed a little closer to the landing and hit a few spots boated two more on a H20 crank and a zoom finesse shakey headed. Went to the weigh-in with our tails tucked. The guys we were fishing aginst fish Eufaula religiously for years. We were the first to weigh in 8.61 on three fish > (couldn't even catch a limit first time all year) With one guy left to weigh in we were still in the lead and big fish lead. WHAT???? could this really happen Guy pulls out 4 decent fish we knew it would be close. 8.67 we fell out we almost and i mean almost (.o6) pulled it off. After it was all said and done we ended up with 2nd and big fish and got to split $400 between the two of us. Made the sunburn on my feet a little better. Next step the classic.
