Son caught his first Bass Yesterday

Featured Replies

Been reading all the signs and stuff online about "Take a kid fishing" and its really been tearing at me.

I kept thinking "I gotta Do this." My dad took me fishing so its my turn now. My stepson is a teenager and in that sort of distant state of adolescence where he just wants to do his own thing and hang out with his friends and play video games.

Ive taken him out on the baot before and he caught a few Bluegill and from the looks of it,he really enjoyed himself.

Its spring break now and I have been wanting to take each of my Stepkids out to the lake this week. The girls work,so its kinda hard to schedule anything.

My son ,well he doesnt have anything going on so I invited him out. Decided to Troll some small Kastmasters,as the Trout are still Biting, and we might have gotten into some Bluegill and possibly some Bass.

The action was quick as we got underway.I ended up boating 4 Trout, and my son boated his first 2 Trout ever and his first Bass ever. Although this Bass wasnt huge...just look at that smile.

I played up that I was envious of his Bass and congratulated him on it. The whole way home he gloated about him catching the only bass and me not catching one,as he knows how much I love Bass Fishing. I was REALLY hoping we would hook into one, that way he can get an idea of what im always talking about when I go to the lake.

Great day for sure. Wouldve stayed out longer but the Charge on the battery went away. Wait till the Bluegill Spawn...Ill take him out and im sure itll be a hoot!!

The first of many thousands, hopefully.

Great story and pic.

Keep 'em coming!!!!  :)

Great story and pic...I'm taking my son on his first fishing trip tomorrow at a small creek that is loaded with bluegill. Its the same place my dad took me on my first trip when i was a kid. He is 3 and half years old. We are going to dig up our own worms and we will probably spend more time getting unhung than fishing but i have really been looking forward to it and its all he has talked about this whole week. I'll come back here and let you guys know how it went with hopefully some pictures of his first fish.  :)  Just remember guys....and gals. Take a kid fishing is not a joke. I'm 42 years old now and its one of the most vivid memories i have as a child of my father(who has been gone for about 10 years now) and me. Congrats to the poster for taking the time to give his stepson a memory he will never forget.  ;)

Awesome, with all the hype and business side of fishing these days it is always good to see that one little bass can still make a memory that will last for a lifetime!
